This Day in Bills History, July 16th 1984 - BILLS TRADE DB MARIO CLARK TO THE 49ERS
The Bills traded their starting CB Mario Clark to the San Francisco 49ers for a fourth-round draft pick in 1985. Clark, the former 1st Rounder spent 9 years as a solid starter in Buffalo’s secondary and intercepted 27 passes in his career as a Bill. The 4th round pick from San Francisco in the '85 draft ended up being SMU Offensive Lineman Dale Hellestrae. After four years as a Bills back-up, Dale was shipped off to Dallas for a 7th Round pick in the 1990 draft.
Hellestrae earned a spot as the Cowboy’s Long Snapper and became a 3xSuper Bowl Champion.
